Below is an error I have faced when trying to start Zimbra services:

After starting troubleshoot process, I came across the problem associated with LDAP database that cannot be repaired. The only way out to this was to build LDAP database again.

Step 1. Pause Zimbra Services

I have recent Zimbra LDAP backup in my server, stored at /opt/Zimbra/backup directory. However, first it is important to stop all Zimbra services.

Step 2. Zimbra LDAP Data Backup

Once Zimbra services are stopped, backup old stored data. Run this as a root user.

Again, create LDAP data folders and give accurate permissions.

Step 3. Restore Zimbra LDAP Database Backup

Now after having empty data directories, go to the directory with LDAP backup. If backups are archived, you will need to uncompress them before data restoration.

Uncompress configuration files of Zimbra LDAP.

Restore ldap-config.bak by making use of slapadd command – Run as Zimbra user.

Perform same for ldap.bak

Step 4. Now Start Zimbra Services

After done with restoration process, start all Zimbra services and start with Zimbra LDAP service.

When it is successful, bring up entire Zimbra services.

Do status verification and confirm that all services are in running state.

Now you can easily use Zimbra Admin UI and implement normal email administration remits.
